About this episode: The title is a Latin phrase — "post hoc, ergo propter hoc", meaning "after this, therefore because of it." It names a classic logical fallacy: assuming that because one thing followed another, the first caused the second. President Bartlet uses it to argue his "funny hats" joke didn't actually cost him Texas.
